Dance, Dance, Dance

So my best friend Derek is amazing. Not only will he be walking me down the aisle on the big day, but he has made us a playlist for our reception!

Obviously this is a working list as trends and peoples taste will change over the next eight months. Let me know if you have any suggestions! What songs would you like to hear and dance to? What songs would you absolutely not want to hear or dance to at a wedding? Also, we have been trying to come up with a good song for the mother/daughter & mother/son dance. Any ideas?

Nine Months To Go!

Last week I went out to VH to meet with Kat to get the ball rolling on wedding day details. We got a preliminary timeline together which was very exciting! I think that the one traditional thing we might skip is the garter/bouquet toss. I don't really think the garter belt thing is really "us." It would probably be a little awkward. Regarding the bouquet, there are two reasons 1) all of my friends are in serious relationships, no one is single (I know I could still do one...) 2) I am cheap and don't want to pay for a toss bouquet (and definitely want to keep mine!) Other than those things, I think the day will be pretty traditional. I just asked Kat to go through a list of what people normally do and we went with that! It looks like all of the dancing will happen in the barrel room downstairs, and for those of you who have been out there, it will be pretty cool. We will open up the doors all night and have the downstairs outdoor patio lit up as well. One thing that I didn't expect was the long list of things that I need people to do! Oh my goodness, some of you are going to have your plates full! I kept asking "who usually does that?" and Kat would say "chose someone who can count on." Luckily, I can count on all of you :-)

I just wanted to post this picture of some flowers that Lisa at Bella Bloom sent me... aren't they pretty? I am thinking that without the orange flowers they will be a terrific bridal bouquet!

Flowers

Last week I met with Lisa from Bella Bloom Florals about flowers for the wedding. She was recommended by Powers and Kat, and apparently is good friends with Kat as well. Well, I really enjoyed meeting with her. Unless something changes, I don't think that I will pursue any other florists. She was great and I felt she was very similar to me in life in general (besides being a super peppy florist.) We got along really well and came up with a floral plan that would fit into our budget. The plan is to use garden roses and dahlias with the brides bouquet being red and the bridesmaids (a surprise to Phoebe that she gets a bouquet!) being white/ivory. The boutinierres will be ivory for the groom and red/orange for the groomsman with maybe some green berries in the mix. And the most important part is that Lisa will buy all of her flowers locally at the Portland flower market. The roses come from Hillsboro and the Dahlias come from Canby (both cities roughly in the Metro area.) If you want to check out her website you can at www.bellabloomflorals.com

I am going to VH to meet with Kat on Thursday to start working on a timeline and plan!
